KALLURUTTY
Kallurutty is the theatrical adaptation of a myth, which exists
among the Mavilar tribe of North Kerala. Kallurutty, a girl
belonging to this tribes, is a darling of the Nature.When
she rolls a stone, Nature reacts in her favour and if someone
tries to molest her, the reaction is turbulent.
Kallurutty encounters Ugrani, an agent of the lower cadre
of the ruling hierarchy who uses her brothers, the Panchurulis
for his trade of ganja. Ugrani, who fails in his attempt to
molest Kallurutty seeks the help of the exorcist, Umbrassan
and in the fierce strife, She dies in saving her chastity.
Umbrassan also meets with his death. Both are deified. |
