Theatre activities
in India and abroad
- Directed own play ‘THIRANOTTAM’ for Kerala Kalamandalam in 1966.
- Directed and presented Bhasa’s ‘DOOTAVAKYAM’ (in Sanskrit) in the Kalidas Samaroh, Ujjain with a local
group in 1980.
- Directed own play ‘OTTAYAN’ for Nrithalaya Aesthetic Society, Singapore in 1982.
- Participated in the International Theatre Festival at
Toga-Mura, Tokyo, Japan in 1982 and conducted Theatre workshops.
- Directed Bhasa’s ‘URUBHANGAM’ in Hindi for the National School of Drama final year students
in 1983.
- Conducted theatre workshops at Common Wealth Institute,
London and Theatre Laboratory at Wales, UK in 1983.
- Directed own play ‘SOORYASTHAN’ (Hindi translation of Malayalam) for National School of
Drama in 1984.
- Presented Sanskrit plays ‘KARANABHARAM' and ‘BHAGAVADAJJUKAM' in the Festival of India and Tokyo International Festival
in 1985 and 1988.
- Directed and presented ‘URUBHANGAM’ and ‘BHAGAVADAJJUKAM’ for the University of Wisconsin, USA in 1985.
- Directed ‘MATHAVILASAM’ (in Hindi) for the National School of Drama Repertory Company,
Delhi in 1985.
- Directed ‘MATHAVILASAM’ (Malayalam) for the School of Drama, Trichur in 1985.
- Animated Kathakali and conducted theatre workshop in the
International Theatre Festival in Kolkatta in 1983.
- Participated in the International Theatre Festival at
Delphi, Greece in 1985.
- Participated in the seminar on Indian Theatre at the
University of Warsaw, Poland in 1986.
- Visited Greece in 1989, 90 and 91 with Sopanam Group
for a joint Indo-Greek project on the two epics ‘Illiad
and Ramayana’.
- Directed Tagore’s ‘RAJA’ for the National School of Drama in 1987.
- Presented Bhasa’s ‘KARNABHARAM’ and ‘MADHYAMA VYAYOGAM’ in the Festival of India, USSR in 1987.
- Participated in Carnantum Festival in Austria with Sopanam
Group in 1991.
- Visited China in 1995 as a member of the Indian Delegation.
- Presented Bhasa’s ‘MADHYAMA
VYAYOGAM’ in the Festival of India in Bangladesh
in 1996.
- Participated in the ITI Festival in South Korea with Sopanam
Group in 1997.
- Organized four International Theatre Festivals on Bhasa
in 1987, 1989, 1994 and 2000.
- Participated in the International Theatre Festival ‘LAMAMA’,
Italy in 2000.
- Directed and presented Bhasa’s 'KARNABHARAM' and adaptation of 'TEMPEST' in the National School of Drama Theatre Festival in 2001.
- Directed and presented Bhasa’s 'PRATIMA' and own Malayalam play 'KALLURUTTY' in the National School of Drama Festival at Delhi in 2002.
- Directed and presented Sanskrit play 'VIKRAMORVASIYAM' with the members of Nrithyalaya Aesthetic Society, Singapore
in 2002.
- Directed and presented two Malayalam plays 'KALIVESHAM' and 'KALANE THEENI' in
2003.
- Directed and presented Bhasa’s Charudattam in Thiruvananthapuram
and New Delhi in connection with National School of Drama
Festival in 2004.
- Produced 'THEYYA THEYYAM' for National School of Drama 2nd year students in Hindi
in 2004.
- Produced and Directed Mahakavi Sakti Bhadra's 'MAYA' in Malayalam in 2005 and presented in Soorya Festival, NSD Festival in 2005
- Produced and Directed 'OTTAMULACHI', a Malayalam play based on 'CILAPATHIKARAM' by Elamkoadikal in 2005
- Produced and Directed Mahakavi Bhasa's 'VIKRAMORVASIYAM' in Sanskrit and presented in Kalidasa Festival in Bhopal and Sanskrit Festival at Varanasi, UP in September - October 2005.
- Directed and Produced Mahakavi Tagore's 'RAJA' (The King in the Dark Chamber) in 2006
- Directed and produced Mahakavi Kalidasa's 'MALAVIKAGNIMITRAM' in Sanskrit and presented in the Kalidasa Festival, Ujjain, M.P in November 2006 and SARANG National Theatre Festival 2006 in Trivandrum, Kerala.
